Motorola Milestone has finally received the Froyo treatment with an Android 2.2 release for the phone. Like they say, better late than never, but it's a tad too late since Gingerbread isn't uncommon on even some lower rung Android phones. Follow this polite cautionary notice from the good people at Motorola to a download page to get the Froyo update.
Despite the inordinate delay, Motorola cautions that the update isn't completely evaluated for optimised performance and even goes on to advise users to exercise restraint with the number of concurrently open applications. The update, unfortunately, isn't available over the air, which means you will have to download the software update to your PC and update your phone by hooking it up. That is unless, of course, you have the Motorola PC Suite version. The update isn't officially available in India, but that shouldn't stop users from experimenting. Do let us know how your experiment went through.
