Running Android covered by HTC's polished Sense UI, the Wildfire S sports a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen with pixel dimensions of 320 x 480. The Android OS is upgradable to version 2.3. A 600 MHz processor powers the device with 512 MB RAM to provide sufficient firepower for a device of its class. A 5.0 Megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash lets you snap photos even in insufficient lighting conditions. You can attach a standard headphone with 3.5 mm jack to listen to music, while the storage is take care of by a microSD memory card slot.

3G is supported with GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS. This phone can be used anywhere in the world, thanks to quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and HSPA/WCDMA (900/2100 MHz) network support. With the 1230 mAh battery, talk time for GSM is specified as up to 430 minutes, while standby time can be up to 360 hours. Weighing just 105 grams, the Wildfire S measures a very compact 5.94x1.24x10.13 cm.

0 Rumor Of iPhone 4 Launch in India on May 12

Last month, two Indian Mobile Operators - Airtel and Aircel promised to introduce Apple iPhone 4 "in coming months" for India. As per the recent rumors from "insider sources", Indians can expect to see iPhone 4 in Black as well as White colors on May 12. There's no official confirmation on this information and hence we take this information with a grain of salt.

Officially, Airtel and Aircel would be introducing  iPhone 4 for India which would be available as both carrier locked and unlocked, hopefully. Apparently, Airtel has starting registration for iPhone 4. So far, from the details what we could infer from a Twitter update by user named Sunny Chahal. Further he added that the information was limited only to GSM handsets and no word was out on CDMA version of iPhone 4.


We contacted Apple spokesperson about the same and await official word on this update.

0 Sony Ericsson W8 Launched The First Walkman Android Phone

Sony Ericsson has announced its first ever Walkman brand smartphone running Google Android 2.1 Eclair update in Indonesia. Supporting 3-inch capacitive touchscreen display, the new Sony Ericsson W8 walkman smartphone looks very similar to Xperia X8. There's no word on the pricing and this phone will be available in China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Malayasia, Phillipines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam from Q2 2011 in Azure Blue, Metallic Red and Iconic Orange.

New Sony Ericsson W8 has a 3-inch capacitive HVGA (320x480) display and houses 600Mhz processor under the hood. With 128MB memory on board, this handset comes with Android 2.1 Eclair running on it and I doubt if it will get Froyo richness. Kindly forget about the phone getting Gingerbread. Sony Ericsson has layered the Timescape UI on the top of Android.

Branded as a Walkman series smartphone, the W8 will have Walkman Music Player ported to Android, TrackID music recognition, and PlayNow technologies. At the back lies a 3.2 megapixel camera that would give you mediocre quality photos along with Geo-tagging capability.

Being 3G Network compatible, the new W8 Android phone offers 23 hours and 40 minutes worth of music listening time. The phone is connectible wirelessly via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Apart from that, the W8 offers Twitter and Facebook integration in the Timescape UI.

Sounds like a good contender for sub Rs. 10,000 Android based smartphone, the Sony Ericsson W8 does look a bit tacky in Iconic Orange, may be its just me.

0 Opera Mini Bags 100 Million Users

The world's most prolific mobile browser Opera Mini has found home in 100 million mobile devices according to Opera's statistics recorded in March. The number of monthly Opera Mini users, a browser available for 3,000 devices,  across the globe has grown by 11 million since February 2011 and doubled from the 50 million mark celebrated in February 2010. That's a lot of numbers, which pale in comparison to the two billion daily pageviews claimed by Opera. Opera had made a similar 100 million announcement two months ago, but that was for a combination of Opera Mini and Mobile numbers, but this landmark was achieved by Opera Mini on its own accord. "Sweeeet!" said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software at the achievement.

0 Facebook to Acquire Mobile App Developer Snaptu

Facebook spread its wings in yet another Mobile Platform . One of the popular social network has finally confirmed the acquisition of mobile platform app developer - Snaptu. Israel based Snaptu which develops apps for feature phones as well as smartphones disclosed the deal on its official blog. As part of the deal, Facebook will pay Snaptu about $60-$70 million and Snaptu would be working as part of Facebook team.

Snaptu develops applications for the feature phones - the phones which aren't smart but possess mobile Internet connectivity and allow installation of Java ME or BREW based apps. Facebook, along with Snaptu, had launched the new Facebook App for popular features phones that consisted of about 2,500 different models. 

Facebook service already has been visible with tighter integration inside the Android OS for INQ handsets and also HTC ChaCha as well as Salsa handsets. That's evidence enough to see how series Facebook is about intoxicating every user with the service.

With acquisition of Snaptu, we'll get to see the social network's deeper integration in feature phones as well. It won't be surprising to see Facebook centric features phones being launched by year end. In fact, the feature phones segment has large volume of users who don't wish to or can't spend a lot on a smartphone. It's not the first time Facebook has addressed the feature phone segment as earlier the company introduce the 0.facebook.com which was basically image-less version of the service. Let's hope this deal brings us better mobile web experience of the service. 

0 Motorola Milestone Is Now Updated to Android 2.2

Motorola Milestone has finally received the Froyo treatment with an Android 2.2 release for the phone. Like they say, better late than never, but it's a tad too late since Gingerbread isn't uncommon on even some lower rung Android phones. Follow this polite cautionary notice from the good people at Motorola to a download page to get the Froyo update.

Despite the inordinate delay, Motorola cautions that the update isn't completely evaluated for optimised performance and even goes on to advise users to exercise restraint with the number of concurrently open applications. The update, unfortunately, isn't available over the air, which means you will have to download the software update to your PC and update your phone by hooking it up. That is unless, of course, you have the Motorola PC Suite version. The update isn't officially available in India, but that shouldn't stop users from experimenting. 0 HTC Ignite, Prime, Pyramind Phone Images Surface

HTC recently refreshed it's Android based smartphone line-up at the Mobile World Congress 2011. But apart from that, HTC is working to bring one more high-end Android and two Windows Phone 7 based handsets to stay up in the competition. XDA China website got exclusive images renders of the upcoming HTC handsets deemed for this year. The new HTC Ignite and HTC Prime are destined to run Windows Phone 7 update while the HTC Pyramind will run Google Android mobile operating system.

Recently, Nokia joined hands with Microsoft and announced that it will use Windows Phone 7 as the primary smartphone OS. That brought yet another competitor to the WP7 hardware partners. HTC aims to be the leader for both Android and Windows Phone 7 based devices. So we can see the company churning out more handsets for both mobile platforms. Now let's take a look at the leaked information of the upcoming handsets.

HTC Ignite

Designed very similar to the current HTC Mozart handset, the Ignite will have the same 3.7-inch WVGA display with 480x800 pixel resolution. The first visible difference is that the Ignite's chasis is more on the silver side while the Mozart's body is a bit dark. However, the Ignite has been reported of having 800MHz processor which seems to be a bit confusing because a WP7 OS smartphone must have 1GHz CPU as per the minimum requirements laid down by Microsoft. Ignite sports a 5 megapixel camera at the back and has three capacitive buttons on the front panel - Back, Windows Key and Search button.


HTC Prime
Another Windows Phone 7 based handset, Prime is a slide-out phone following the footsteps of HTC 7 Pro. The new HTC Prime will have 3.7-inch display supporting 480x800 pixel resolution and 5 megapixel camera with LED Flash as well as auto focus. It
will flaunt a full QWERTY keyboard with nicely spaced out keys.

HTC Pyramind

The Pyramind Z710e appears to be a blend of Desire HD, Incredible S and HD7. Sporting the most recent Android update, the smartphone comes with a 4.3-inch touchscreen Super Clear LCD display that supports 960x540 resolution. Packing a 768MB RAM, the smartphone has 8 megapixel camera at the back and a 1.3 megapixel camera in the front.

These new leaked handsets appear to have bit of silver-ish chasis, which is bit unusual as most HTC touchscreen phones have been getting darker body panels.

0 Spice Introduces Its Low-cost Touchscreen Phone

Spice has now intoduced their Low-cost Touchscreen phones . Joining Spice Mobiles' inexpensive handsets range is M-7500 Flo which sports a 2.8-inch VGA touchscreen. The phone supports two GSM SIM cards.

Other features of the phone include a 1.3 megapixel camera, and the capability to record videos. Music enthusiasts can enjoy mp3 features and FM radio. Apart from this, a 3.5mm audio jack is available too. It provides expandable storage facility ensuring its users get ample space to keep their pictures and videos. Connectivity options include Bluetooth. M-7500 Flo offers social networking and instant messaging applications like Facebook, Nimbuzz and Snaptu.

M-7500 Flo is available at an MRP of Rs. 3,699.

0 Samsung Corby II GT-S3850 Revealed

Samsung has come up with another Corby series phone branded as Corby II GT-S3850. The new Corby II GT-S3850 features a distinct design compared to previous Corby series phones. Featuring a nice 3.14-inch touchscreen display, the new Corby II has quad-band GSM/EDGE support. The price of this new GT-S3850 handset hasn't been announced as yet.

At the Samsung SEA Forum in Singapore, the company announced new QWERTY candybar Galaxy Pro that runs Google Android 2.2 Froyo on it. Samsung also quietly announced the new Corby II S3850 handset that will have TouchWiz UI running on it. It features a 3.14-inch capacitive touchscreen display retaining the QVGA resolution and 2 megapixel camera that can shoot video in QVGA resolution at 15fps. 

The Corby II is a 2G Network only phone and won't support 3G network. Other features of the Corby II phone include support for Microsoft Exchange, Social Hub, stereo FM with RDS, Bluetooth 3.0 and 3.5 mm audio port. It also has a microSD card slot capable of holding up to 16GB memory card.

Samsung will launch the Corby II in White, Pink and Yellow colors by late March in Germany and then it would be made available in other countries in Europe, Latin America, Middle East and in India, China and Africa

0 Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc handset arrives at the FCC

After knowing that the Android-powered Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc made its debut at CES 2011 earlier this year, and it has now arrived at the FCC – which can only mean one thing, that is the American public will have to prepare their wallets for an imminent release – at least, for those who are interested in this handset. Having been approved for quad-band GSM capabilities alongside WCDMA bands I, II, V and VI, the Xperia Arc does seem suitable for AT&T in this part of the world, since it plays nice with AT&T’s 3G and GSM frequencies. Of course, it will also work just fine on T-Mobile, sans 3G support though. No idea on how much this Android 2.3 Gingerbread handset will cost when it comes out, but you can be sure that all that thin form factor isn’t going to mean you’re missing out on features – no sir, ith this, you get a speedy 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8250 processor that handles multimedia very well.

Videocon Mobile Phones are now in  Android phone market, by launching ‘Videocon Zeus’ in the Indian market.  The ‘Videocon Zeus’ is Android OS Phone and is powered by Qualcomm 600 MHz Micro-processor. It is a 3.5 G phone, has a large 3.2 inch multi-touch (capacitive) screen with Motion G Sensor, a 5MP Camera with LED flash and 24FPS Video Recording. One can choose applications on the phone from over 70,000 applications via the Android TM Marketplace. Zeus has Wi-Fi, Push Mail, Accelerometer and Customizable 5 screens.
